Vegetable Container Garden
Vegetable container garden has it benefits and drawbacks. One of the benefits is there is any number of different types and shapes of containers, with a number of patterns and styles that will add beauty to your patio or garden.
If we have a greenhouse or greenroom then we can move them in and out as the temps cool down or heat up, thus prolonging the life and production of the plant. One draw back, is the container plant needs water every two to three days due to the confines of the container. Of course the bigger the container the more water it will hold and the more there will be for root growth, which will make our plants larger and produce more. We can move our pots around any way we want. We can arrange them in any fashion. We can change this once a week if we wish. Using the containers has a lot of versatility. In my opinion, the ceramic pots will make the best planters. They will last longer, look prettier and use less water. Wooden planters will rot over time. Plastic ones deteriorate after a couple of years. The plants that will do the best are tomatoes, peppers, lettuce, pole beans, cucumbers and strawberries. Squash and egg plant can also be grown. I do not recommend pole beans since you will need a lot of plants to grow enough to eat. Strawberries and cucumbers can be put in hanging baskets. Just following the instructions for the type of basket you get. There is also the Topsy Turvy which my jury is still out on. My plants have not done well, but this maybe because of the high heat we have had.
Below are pictures of containers I took pictures of at Lowes.
