Sunflower Home Page

This page is our Sunflower Home Page. It is an index to all of our pages on growing, harvesting and storing sunflowers.

We start off with Growing Giant Sunflowers where we talk about growing the Lyng's California Greystriped. Some of mine got to be at 12" across.

Then we have a page on Growing Harvesting Sunflowers where we talk about growing sunflowers for harvesting. Sunflowers seeds are processed for their oil. What is left is used for bird feed.

We talk about the Moulin Rouge F1 at Growing Sunflowers.

For the spring of 2011 we have added some more pages on sunflowers.

We have a page on Harvesting Sunflower Seeds where we show how to grow the California Lyng's Greystriped.

We have another sunflower page where we talk about How to Plant Sunflower Seeds. Here we talk about growing the Sunny Smile.

Next we have a page on Pictures of Sunflowers where we will post a lot pictures of our sunflowers from the spring 2011 season using the Teddy Bear as the main picture.

We talk about Sunflower Parts using the Autumn Beauty.

And finally we talk about the nutrition in a sunflower at Sunflower Seed Calories.

We will add information to these pages as the spring 2011 season materializes.

The season of 2011 will go down as the hottest in Texas or almost the hottest. It has also been very dry. We are under water restrictions here in San Antonio so I have not watered as I should. But Monday it is supposed to get cooler but still no rain.

Our sunflowers did not come out quite as we had hoped.

Below are some pictures of what we were able to grow this year for the 2011 season.
