How to Grow Celery
This page talks about how to grow celery. For our model we are using the Tango pictured at the right.
The Tango is similar to Conquistador, but the flavor is better and the stalks are more tender and less fibrous. The plant is also a few inches taller. Tango performs well under less-than-ideal growing conditions such as heat or moisture stress. Days to Maturity: 80
Organic Seeds and Supplies
For seeds, OG means "organically grown" and signifies seeds harvested from plants grown organically, without synthetic fertilizers or pesticides and according to National Organic Program standards.
For supplies, OG signifies products that are approved for use in growing certified organic crops; supplies are listed by OMRI (Organic Materials Review Institute) when noted in the product description.
I started my how to grow celery section indoors. They are just now starting to emerge somewhat. However, we have had a lot of cloudy days in the past two weeks so they are not growing as they should. I have tried to give them some artificial light but this is not working. I may have to replant and start all over.
I planted about 4-6 seeds in side DOT pots. I am using pots since once I am ready to transplant to a bigger container, all I have to do is drop the pot inside the container, cover with soil and water.

In the picture below is my Celery about three weeks old. It is not growing as well as it should. I need to get more light on them.

My initial celery plantings fizzled. I did not keep enough light on them so I had to start over. Below is a picture of the new plantings. The plants to the left are spinach, the right are celery.
I have planted these in the greenhouse and hopefully they will do better. Our problem has been we have had a very cool and cloudy Fall. We have had a lot of wonderful rain and some cool weather. Today is the second day we have had a full day of sunlight in a long time.
