Growing Banana Peppers
Growing banana peppers takes a little more time, effort and patience but they can be well worth the effort when they are allowed to mature to their ripe color.
In the picture below is one of my banana peppers which is getting close to being ripe. It looks like it is going to be red or orange when it is ripe. Only time will tell.
The high heat we have had has affected the tomatoes, I am hoping it will not hurt the peppers. I may try to move these potted peppers to a cooler location, but I cannot think of a place where it is any cooler.
My peppers located in the garden are still alive. They stopped producing for a few weeks but now they are coming back to life as the temps have been a little cooler.
My Banana peppers survived the summer heat. They did not do much when the temperatures were over 100 degrees for many days. Last week we received some rain and cooler temperatures. Now the plants are growing and producing faster than I can keep up.
