Broccoli Home Page

This page is our Broccoli Home Page. It is an index to all of our pages on growing, harvesting, cooking and freezing broccoli.

For the fall 2010 season we are planting three different types of broccoli. I am hoping to grow enough broccoli, cauliflower and carrots to fill the freezer next year.

Last year, fall 2009, I got off to a slow start, but this year I have already started (July, 13, 2010) my seeds indoors. The seeds have germinated and are turning into seedlings.

August 18, 2010

It has gotten too hot to try to grow anything so I am waiting until September to plant the broccoli for this fall.

Growing Broccoli talks about growing the Arcadia F1 which is recommended for summer, fall and winter production.

There is also a page on Planting Broccoli which talks about the Diplomat F1.

The Diplomat F1 is recommended for fall and winter production.

Then we have Harvesting Broccoli Which talks about the Belstar F1.

The Belstar F1 OG is the most widely adapted organic hybrid. Belstar has performed best for spring and fall productions but has still been adequate for summer crops.

We continue with our home page with How to Grow Broccoli which talks about the Marathon F1.

The Marathon F1 is the #1 fall and winter variety.

This late, cool weather variety is widely planted in California. Highly tolerant to cold. Grown successfully in the Northeast for late summer and fall crop.

Below is a picture of some cauliflower and broccoli we harvested for the fall 2010 season.
